The official GasGas team prepares for the first round of the World Championship in Chile

The curtain for the 2013 World Enduro Championship opens on South American soil.

Chile and Argentina are the locations for the beginning of the new season in which riders for team Gas Gas hope to achieve significant results in the different categories.

The competition is a two day race plus a 'SuperTest' prologue to be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. local time. This event will be held in the foothills of the Andes, in the Maule region, specifically in the city of Talca, 253 km South of the capital Santiago de Chile.

The race schedule for the two days is as follows : Each rider must complete 3 laps of a route with different special tests: Cross Test, Enduro Test and Extreme Test. The first rider will start at 09:00a.m. The time difference between Chile and Spain is 5 hours.

On Friday, the team riders have already studied the areas of the timed special tests and where the race will be ran. Rodrig Thain,Enduro 1 World Championship runner-up last season, will participate riding a Gas Gas EC 300 R in the Enduro 3. It will be a major change for the rider from Arras being more familiar with a bike with valves, who now will compete upon a 2-stroke in the top class.

McCanney, Junior favorite
The young Briton Danny McCanney, who last weekend won the title of SuperEnduro Junior World champion, is now a candidate who will be fixed upon the Enduro World Championship crown in a class reserved for young riders. It will not be easy, because unlike in the enclosed courses, the number of competitors is larger and a surprise can happen at any time. McCanney commands the EC 300 R, and he will not be the only rider from the successful program, Gas Gas School of Champions, as also participating in the Junior class are Chileans Diego Rojas and Esteban Lanz. Lanz, however, competes on the EC 125 R in the sub-category Enduro Youth. For his part, the Guatemalan Oscar Bethancourt, another member of the structure directed by Oriol Pons, will also be present at the opening round, but has no plans to contest the entire World Championship series.
