Gerard Farres, third in general classification in the Merzouga Rally

The riders from the Gas Gas JVO Team, Gerard Farres and Jordi Viladoms are getting excellent results in preparation for the Dakar Rally and occupy top positions in the Merzouga Rally.
Today's stage of the Merzouga Rally had a total of 249 kilometers, starting in Erfoud and the goal of the Merzouga dunes, where riders had to leave the bike in the parc-ferme without assistance, and spend the night there. This is the first part of the marathon stage of this race.

The Merzouga Rally is being pleasantly positive for the riders and also for the new Gas Gas EC 450 Raid, which has already completed more than half of the rally without having any problems. All three riders of the Gas Gas JVO Team have put the bike daily into a test so special as this African event, in which they also are successfully placing them in prominent positions at each stage as well as overall. A success for riders and motorcycles, especially as our athletes do not have as much training in such tests as other riders participating in this race.

Today, Farres and Viladoms have completed this special test in a group, along with other riders, but these two Gas Gas riders have finished fourth and fifth in the stage. It was a long stage, with the final part with many dunes, crossing Erg Chebbi from south to north. In the overall standings, riders of the Gas Gas JVO Team are highly classified: Gerard Farres is third in the standings. Meanwhile, Jordi Viladoms in this marathon stage, has taken this step to try some modifications to his Gas Gas EC 450 Raid and will view the performance in this long stage, that does not allow assistance. And the rider from Igualada (Barcelona) suffered no mishaps.

For his part, Marc Guasch, the third member of the Gas Gas JVO Team is also in the process of developing the new rally model motorcycle for the Spanish brand. Today finishing in ninth place and occupies the same position in the interim race standings.

"Today was great with this special test, especially in the last part with the big dunes of Erg Chebbi. We have been riding in a group with Jordi Viladoms, Verhoeven and Pain. Having fun, and tonight ...To see how we live in the desert, without the comforts of a hotel!"

"We are here to take maximum advantage of the time. Today I was testing new materials for the bike and I'm very happy with how everything went. Overall, this preparation for the Dakar is working fabulous. I enjoyed the special and we've had good travel as we went as a group through the dunes. It was fun".
