James Dabill third in his encouraging international debut on the new Gas Gas TXT 300 GP at the Sheffield Indoor Trial

10/01/2017

The British rider made his debut with the Gas Gas TXT 300 GP by making it on to the third step of the podium in the Sheffield Indoor Trial. His teammate, Jack Price, finished seventh in his first entry in the maximum category of trial after his conquest in Trial2 last year. Sheffield Arena was a meeting point for the great stars of trial for the homage to Martin Lampkin

It was an encouraging debut from James Dabill with Gas Gas. The latest addition to the factory team from the company in Girona climbed up onto the podium of the Sheffield Indoor Trial, the early-bird event in the international indoor calendar was held last Saturday in the UK, before the start of the X-Trial World Championship in Barcelona, on 5th February.

There was been a great home performance from the riders of the Gas Gas team. Buoyed up by the support of the large number of fans filling the Sheffield Arena in one of the benchmark events for the speciality, which unlike last year, was not giving points for the X-Trial World Championship.

James Dabill got his ticket to the big final the fast way, after handing in his card with only 13 points, with a fourth place in the classifying round before the fight-off between the four best riders of the evening. Meanwhile, his teammate, young Jack Price, world champion in Trial2 last year, had to make do with seventh place in this his first time together with the big stars of trial.

In the grand finale, Dabill managed to move up a place so he could get his podium position in his first appearance wearing Gas Gas colours. This is a great start which only goes to confirm the rapid adaptation of the seven times British champion to the new Gas Gas TXT 300 GP before the imminent start of the indoor world championship, in just three weeks on the celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the pioneering first and longest lasting indoor trial event, the Trial Indoor Solo Moto, first of the four dates in the FIM X-Trial 2017 World Championship.
