Geoff Aaron finishes 4th overall in round #4 of AMA Endurocross Series battles for podium till penultimate lap

LOS ANGELES, CA. (September 12th, 2016) – In what was truly an amazing evening of Endurocross competition, GasGas factory rider Geoff Aaron battled throughout the night and came away with his and GasGas’ highest finish so far this season a solid fourth place finish at Round #3 at the Vivant Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Despite being a season best the fourth place result doesn’t begin to tell the whole story as Geoff battled adversity all night before coming within two laps of a podium finish.

Starting with a tough draw in Heat 1 Geoff battled the highly technical course, other riders and himself but could not catch a break forcing him to qualify through the LCQ. In the LCQ Geoff quickly turned a great start into a battle for first place before suffering a chain derailment in the rock section on Lap 1. For most riders this would have been the end but Geoff calmly remounted the chain and took off in last position. With his eyes focused on a transfer position Geoff worked his way back through the pack to take a solid second place transfer to the main. In the main event Geoff started from the second row and with skillful riding quickly moved into third place before the end of the first lap. From there Geoff rode smooth and consistent keeping contact with the lead riders for the first third of the race. Geoff held onto third until the next to last lap before several encounters with lapped riders slowed his progress allowing Mike Brown to close the gap and eventually make the pass for third.

“Tonight was one of those nights where you are reminded to always keep trying and to never give up” said Aaron at the finish of the event. “Even when my chain derailed in the LCQ I knew if I kept my head down and just kept working hard good things would happen. The main was the most competitive I’ve felt all series. It was good to be racing for the podium again and I look forward now to the next round in Arizona”, Aaron commented.

“It was definitely a good night for GasGas”, said GasGas CMO and racing chief, Scot Harden. “Geoff is such a credit to the sport. We are so fortunate to have him spearheading our Endurocross and Trials efforts. Watching him in action tonight was a real pleasure. Big thanks goes to Geoff’s longtime mechanic and friend Jesse Hoffman for all his support behind the scenes”.
