GasGas achieves a victory and three podiums racing in Compostela

After McCanney's victory and Nambotin's third place yesterday, and now today Nambotin's second and Basset's third in E1, the accumulation of successes has continued for the GasGas Factory Team in the Spanish GP in the EnduroGP World Championship.

The results for the GasGas Factory Team in the second round of the EnduroGP World Championship held in Santiago de Compostela are excellent. Despite the difficult conditions in this event due to the rain, yesterday Danny McCanney achieved the second victory of the season in E3 for GasGas in the EnduroGP World Championship, accompanied on the podium by his teammate Christophe Nambotin. Both riders have kept on riding at a great level this Sunday, but a problem with his front wheel prevented McCanney from finishing his day in the topmost positions, finishing fourth. Nambotin finished on the podium again thanks to the second position harvested today under heavy rain.

In the E1 category, Antoine Basset rode at a great level throughout the event. In difficult conditions, although just the ones where the Frenchman feels comfortable, he just missed a podium finish yesterday by very little - he finished fourth - something that did not happen today, as Basset achieved the first podium finish of the GasGas EnduroGP 250 this year. The young Eemil Pohjola made his debut on very different terrain from his native Finland, showing a great capacity for adaptation and great potential that has helped him finish this difficult event with a seventh and a fifth position.

The EnduroGP World Championship is not going to slow down and next week the GasGas Factory Team will return to action in Portugal from May 4th to 6th.

GasGas Enduro Team Manager

"Saturday was a great day for the GasGas Factory Team, with two of our riders on the E3 podium. Danny McCanney got a great win and Christophe Nambotin rounded off the team's result with a third place finish. Antoine Basset was one step away from the E1 podium, but he had a great race. Eemil Pohjola finished in seventh position of E1 and still has room for improvement riding fast on hard terrain.

Today we also achieved very good results, again with two of our GasGas bikes on the podium of the E3 and E1 World Championships. Nambotin and Basset are very consistent riders in this type of adverse conditions of rain and mud, and in Santiago, in a really complicated weekend, they have demonstrated it again. Both McCanney and Nambotin fought throughout the day for victory. Unfortunately, Danny [McCanney] finished fourth after suffering a problem with his front wheel. Despite this, we achieved an excellent result, with Nambotin second and McCanney finally fourth. In E2, Basset completed the day with a well-deserved podium and young Pohjola was fifth, showing his full potential this weekend. The Spanish Grand Prix of Santiago has been excellent for the GasGas Enduro Factory Team."

"I am happy because we have finished a good weekend, although it was a difficult event as the conditions were hard, because of the rain that fell this week and even today. The bike worked well and so did the team, so I am satisfied with how things went in this first 'normal' enduro event, after the event in Finland. Next week we will compete again and I am looking forward to continue working with the team."

"Yesterday was very good for us. I rode with confidence on the bike, the sensations were very good and I ended up satisfied with my performance, everything was perfect. Today we started with a first and second position and it seemed that we could continue in that line but unfortunately a mishap made us lose a lot of time. In any case, we managed to finish and we have added some very valuable points for the championship."

"The first day of this round was not bad, although we finished off the podium. Today, with rain and conditions that I like, I pushed through to get a good result but I had several falls. I lost some time but I managed to finish on the podium and I am very happy to take the 250cc GasGas to this position of honor."

"Yesterday was a bit difficult for me but I ended up satisfied because I was able to finish in a good position and with very few falls. Today, I think the day has been more complicated and I had several falls. Competing on this type of surface, different from Finland, is a good thing for me and I think we have achieved a good result in this event."
