Top 10 Finishes For Gas Gas North America At Indiana GNCC

FAR Racing Gas Gas North America came away with a trio of top-10 finishes at this weekend’s X-Factor Whitetails GNCC in Peru, Indiana. The 11-mile X-Factor course was fast and dusty, conditions that require the most out of machine and rider and the FAR Racing crew was more than up for the challenge.

In the XC1 Pro class, Andrew DeLong finished a solid ninth aboard his GasGas XC300, after turning in a performance that the Pennsylvania rider considered an improvement over previous races.

In the XC Pro 2 class, Nick Davis was in contention for another podium during the early stages of the race when his air filter stopped up, forcing him into the pits. Despite the unscheduled stop, Davis was able work his way back into the top 10 where he ultimately finished seventh in class, and 15th overall, on his 2018 GasGas XC250.

Korie Steede made her return to racing at the Indiana race after spending several weeks recovering from injury. After getting off to a slow start, Steede turned in a relatively error-free race while working her way back up for a seventh place finish in the WXC class on her 2018 GasGas XC250.

Andrew DeLong: I stayed off the ground all day and I think I picked up some speed since the last race. My pace put me two or three places higher than before and I felt a lot more comfortable on the bike. Most of the course was pretty fast and it was only rough in a few places in the woods, with a lot of g-outs, and my XC300 was really solid all day. My confidence just seems to be getting better and better with each race.

Nick Davis: I got off to a really good start and I ran with the front-runners. I was actually just 20 seconds out of the lead at one point. Unfortunately, it was really dusty and my air filter got clogged up and I had to make a pit stop to change it out, which cost me a lot of time. Once I got going, I just charged hard and worked my way back to seventh in the XC Pro 2 class and 15th overall. I really think I was riding at a pace that would have put me on the podium if I hadn’t had the problem with the dust.

Korie Steede: I didn’t get off to the best start, but I’m happy with the race because I didn’t make as many mistakes as I have been making in the past. I still a few things to work on so I’ll just go back to the drawing board and work hard and be ready for the next race in Ohio.

The FAR Racing Gas Gas North America team returns to action on May 27 for the John Penton GNCC in Millfield, Ohio, round seven of the Grand National Cross Country Series.
