Gas Gas had a solid rides in Rhode Island, the final round of the 2017 US Trials series

The Rhode Island Trials Club hosted the final rounds of the 2017 US Trials series. The Arcadia state park has some of the best Trials terrain in the country and set the stage for the two hardest events of this years championship. The rugged rocky hillsides combined with muddy climbs were a challenge for all classes. Rain on Saturday morning made some of the sections nearly impossible but the sun came out and lines started to develop. On Sunday the weather was nearly perfect and the sections were a mix of slick and dry. Plenty of spectators came out to witness the action and were treated to some spectacular riding mixed with thrills and spills.

Team GasGas riders Bryan Roper (AZ), Alex Niederer (FL), Micah Hertrich (CO) and Madeleine Hoover (NC) all had solid rides in Rhode Island.

In the Pro class Bryan Roper and Alex Niederer took their GasGas TXT300 GP edition trials bikes to 4th and 5th places respectively both days. The teammates were giving it their all on the challenging course. The sections were very demanding and the riders and minders were visibly tired and beat up after Saturday's test. On Sunday the sections were still difficult but more rideable. Excellent control and balance by both GasGas riders earned them both top five finishes in the overall championship.

In the Expert class, GasGas up-and-comer Micah Hertrich got a lesson in slippery riding technique. The Colorado native is used to revving up his GasGas and launching up big grippy boulders. In Rhode Island every section needed a combination of finesse and aggression. Very difficult conditions for all riders but the youngster managed to pull off some great rides on his new GasGas TXT250 E4. Micah finished 7th and 8th in his Expert class debut. Micah had already wrapped up the 2017 Expert 125 National Championship the previous round in Ohio.

Maddie Hoover has had a stand out performance in this years women's pro championship by winning 7 of the 8 national rounds. Despite the tough conditions and a nasty practice crash on Friday Maddie clinched her first #1 plate in style. Maddie's skills have improved dramatically over the last year as she prepares for the world championships later this summer in Europe.

Other "stand out" GasGas performances in Rhode Island Include: Drew Fortner (EX), Devin Hightman (JR), Dale Malasek (SR), Brad Howard (SR) and Dalton Dunman (SPT)

Next event: Trial GP World Championship Kingman, AZ July 29-30
