Grabbo's VIP Experience FINKE Desert Race 2024
There’s no place like an Australian desert race and Finke Desert Race is undoubtedly one of the most gruelling and toughest races there is. Renowned for its terrain, whoops and unforgiving track, the race has earned its reputation as one of the toughest desert races in the world.
The 2024 edition of this legendary race witnessed the return of Grabbo’s VIP Race Experience, led by four-time king of the desert, Ben Grabham. This year, Grabbo on a GASGAS EC500F and his 13-strong team embraced the red-hot new Enduro GASGAS range of bikes, adding an extra level of anticipation to the already thrilling and challenging race.
‘The new GASGAS EC 500F is one of the funnest bikes to race and performed faultlessly during all of our testing. I finished prologue in 4th and overall in 6th which was a decent improvement on last year, proving this bike can handle the high speed and desert terrain between Alice Springs and Finke. During testing and pre-running we learnt how the bikes responded to adjustments, changes in suspension, gearing and exhausts so each and every VIP customer was set up for success.’ says Ben.
The VIP Race Experience offers participants an exclusive opportunity to join Grabbo and his VIP crew in tackling the gruelling Finke Desert Race. With access to expert guidance and coaching, the VIP racers were able to immerse themselves in the thrilling and sometimes crazy world of desert racing, some for the very first time.
‘It was great to be back at the Finke Desert Race with our VIP Race Experience. Loved the GASGAS bike the whole way. It’s been a big job leading into the event and getting all our VIP customers prepared but it was exciting to see all our customers arrive in Finke and get back to Alice not too battered and bruised. We’ve even had a couple of customers re-sign for Finke 2025.’
Our VIP Racers came from all over, showing the appeal of the VIP Race set-up. Anyone who is a rider enthusiast can easily experience the same thrills (hopefully not spills) and challenges of desert racing. This is one for the bucket list!
