Laia Sanz is a rider that needs little introduction. A true Spanish sporting superstar, she is one of the world’s most successful sportswomen and a rider that has enjoyed phenomenal successes in Trials, Enduro and most recently Rally.
Fulfilling a childhood dream 2011, Laia competed in her first Dakar Rally following extensive Rally preparation during 2010. Successfully finishing the race as the highest placed female competitor, she has gone on to finish as the #1 female rider each and every year since.
Laia has now completed nine Dakars. Earning a career best result of ninth overall in 2015, she has finished inside the top 20 no fewer than six times. Laia heads into the 2020 Dakar Rally flying the flag for GasGas Factory Racing.
Before switching to Rally Laia won five consecutive Women’s Enduro World Championships. Stamping her authority on the sport between 2012 and 2016 she also claimed four X Games gold medals in the Women’s Enduro X competition.
Trials is where Laia first demonstrated her motorcycle riding talents to the world, dominating the sport to earn no fewer than 13 Women’s Trial World Championship titles between 2000 and 2013. A true master of the feet up discipline, during her time as a Trials rider Laia developed skills, confidence and determination, which have remained with her throughout her career.
